Guru.com guarantees your payment's protection when you hire Freelancers — just use our SafePay service!
When you hire a Freelancer through Guru.com, you pay that Freelancer through Guru Invoicing or SafePay. Whichever method you choose, Guru.com payment services are always free to Employers like you, but for a risk-free guarantee on your transaction, SafePay is the way to go.
SafePay is the safest method of transaction: When payments are managed through SafePay, you have peace of mind knowing that the Freelancer is not paid until you approve the work and you have options if the work is not completed as agreed.
Also, when you use SafePay, you may take advantage of Guru.com's free 1099 service; you can earn Loyalty Dollars; and, on the off chance you should need it, you gain protection through Guru.com's Mediation and Arbitration services.
Just follow four simple steps to use SafePay:
- Award the project
Once you've posted a project and reviewed your quotes, select the Freelancers you wish to hire by clicking the "Award Project" button within your chosen Freelancer's quote. Guru.com will ask that Freelancer to accept or decline the project, and we'll notify you via email as soon as the Freelancer makes a decision.
- Approve the Project Agreement
Ask the Freelancer who accepts the project to create and upload an online Project Agreement. When the Freelancer uploads the Agreement, you will be asked to approve or decline it. Before you approve, be sure that the document covers project milestones the Freelancer should complete, payment terms, and other essential points.
- Establish the SafePay request
After approving the Project Agreement, ask the Freelancer to create a SafePay request in the agreed-upon amount. Guru.com will send you an email prompting you to pay the amount to Guru.com, before the Freelancer begins work. Guru.com will pay the Freelancer only after you approve the work.
- Review and approve the work
Once the Freelancer completes the project work, review it and ensure that you are satisfied that it meets the terms of your Project Agreement. If you are satisfied, approve the work by releasing the SafePay payment. Guru.com will pay the Freelancer (minus applicable transaction fees). Both parties then can leave feedback on each other.
If you're not satisfied or the deliverables to not meet the terms of your Project Agreement, do not approve the work, and ask us to refund the payment to you. We'll assist you with our Mediation and Arbitration services. Do not approve the work until you're certain it is complete. If you approve the work but later determine that it is not complete, Guru's dispute resolution department will no longer be able to assist you.
General tips
If you have worked with a Freelancer in the past, you may feel comfortable using Guru Invoicing. Only use Invoicing when you know and fully trust the Freelancer. Always use SafePay for your first transaction with a new Freelancer.
The SafePay system is very flexible: You can choose to make one payment and approve all of the work at the end; make one payment and approve work in increments as the Freelancer reaches certain milestones; or make multiple payments, doled out to the Freelancer in multiple releases, as he or she continues work on the project.
You may stipulate in your initial project posting that you will only hire Freelancers who agree to transact using SafePay. Never pay Freelancers you find through Guru.com outside of the Billing and Payment system. (SafePay is preferable to Guru Invoicing, but be sure to use one or the other, as paying through Guru.com allows you to give Freelancerss feedback which is recorded on Freelancers' Guru.com profiles.) |
